A 14-year-old boy has died and another teenager is seriously injured after a crash in County Kerry overnight.
It happened on the Ross Road in Killarney at around 1:10am.
The 14-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second teen was taken to Kerry University Hospital with serious injuries.
Gardaí interacted with the vehicle in the lead-up to the crash and the incident has been referred to the Garda Ombudsman (GSOC) for investigation.
The scene remains closed for technical examination and diversion are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information to contact them.
Motorcyclist
It is the second road death in Killarney in less than 24 hours.
A motorcyclist in his 30s who was seriously injured in a collision with a car at Listry Bridge between Killarney and Milltown last night has since died.
Gardaí said he was airlifted to Kerry University Hospital with serious injuries. He has since passed away.
The scene has been preserved and diversions remain in place.
Traffic approaching from Killarney is being diverted at Faha Cross and from Milltown at Listry Cross.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
They are particularly interested in speaking anyone who may have dash-cam or video footage.
