A teenager has died in a road crash in Achill, County Mayo. 

Just before 1am today, Gardaí were called out to the R319 at Keel on Achill.

There was only one vehicle at the scene of the crash and a 17-year-old boy was pronounced dead. 

The road remains closed ahead of an inspection by the Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. 

Gardaí have asked for any witnesses to get in contact with them. 

They are particularly interested in speaking to anyone with dash cam footage.
