A teenager is being treated in hospital following an assault in Waterford city yesterday evening.

Gardaí have said they are investigating the incident which happened in Ballybeg between 5.30 and 6.30pm.

A young man in his late teens was taken to University Hospital Waterford.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
