A teenager has died in a car crash in County Kildare.

Gardaí say the young man died in a single-vehicle crash on the Clane Road in Celbridge at around 10.30pm yesterday.

He was the only person in the car.

The road remains closed this morning ahead of a forensic investigation of the crash site.

The local coroner has been notified and a post-mortem is due to be carried out.

Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

They are particularly interested in talking to road users who were in the area at the time and may have camera footage.
