Teenager released without charge after elderly man dies in Donegal crash

A man in his teens has been released without charge following a fatal road crash in Letterkenny yesterday morning. 

Gardaí described their investigation as “ongoing” and said files were being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions and Garda Youth Diversion Bureau.

At 3AM on Saturday morning, two pedestrians were hit by a car and then taken to Letterkenny University Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the car was arrested at the scene and taken into Garda custody. 

Later that day, one of the pedestrians, a man in his 60s, passed away in hospital, while the second pedestrian was airlifted to hospital in Galway to continue his treatment. 

Gardaí have asked for any witnesses to contact Letterkenny Garda Station.
