A 15-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a botched tiger kidnapping in Co. Limerick.
The boy who cannot be named for legal reasons appeared before Limerick Children’s Court.
He is charged with the false imprisonment of Stephen Cusack from Garryowen.
Mr. Cusack and another man were kidnapped by a gang from a house in Castletroy last Sunday night.
Detective Garda Ivan Muldoon of Henry Street Gardaí told the court that when he charged the boy with the botched tiger kidnapping the boy replied “I’m sorry”.
The 15-year-old is charged with the false imprisonment of Stephen Cusack who’s family runs a newsagents and post office in Garryowen in Limerick.
The accused whose parents were present in court was granted bail on strict conditions.
Garda who had objected to bail on grounds of the serious nature of the charge said the offence carried a life sentence on indictment.
Judge John O’Neill said the boy was entitled to his presumption of innocence.
The boy was remanded on bail to appear in court again on October 23rd.
Meanwhile Gardaí are continuing to search for 2 men who they believe were behind the botched kidnapping.
