Two teenage girls have settled a High Court case against their father following the death of their mother in a tragic car crash.

Marian Reid, a primary school teacher from Malahide in Co. Dublin, was fatally injured while travelling with her family to her brother's wedding in Killaloe.

She was fatally injured in a car crash on the day before her 37th birthday.

The collision happened on the Nenagh bypass in Co. Tipperary on June 30th 2004 while her husband Derek Reid was driving.

The mother of three had been travelling to her brother's wedding but the celebration was cancelled because of the tragedy.

The couple's daughter Aislinn, then aged 4, fractured her leg in the crash while her older sister Meabh, then aged 9, escaped with minor bruising.

To obtain compensation the girls sued their father who was driving at the time. The case has settled and Aislinn will receive €155,000 while Meabh will get €75,000.
