A teenager will go on trial accused of endangerment of life by speeding up the wrong way of a dual carriageway in Dublin.

The 17-year-old cannot be named because of his age.

The boy faces a number of charges relating to a high-speed chase on the morning of November 21st, 2023.

He is accused of endangering life and seven counts of dangerous driving in a stolen Nissan Micra rental car.

The court was told Gardaí could not keep up with the car which was first spotted at Cheeverstown Avenue in Tallaght.

Officers attempted to block the car but it took off at speed and broke a red light.

The car travelled the wrong way on the N81 dual carriageway with the Garda pursuit was stopped because it was too dangerous.

A teenager was arrested a day later.

The court was also told he is attending a specialist about mental health issues.

The case is to be sent to the Circuit Court for trial - which has broader sentencing powers.

The boy remains on bail and will appear again in December.
