Met Eireann is warning that temperatures are due to dip below freezing tonight as many people remain without power. A thankfully dry night could see temperatures drop to -3 in some parts of the country, with 'severe frost' forming in some areas and icy stretches on untreated roads.

60,000 homes still have no electricity while some will be forced to endure another night of the cold and darkness as ESB networks warns many faults won't be repaired this weekend.

Forecasters say much of the high winds have eased across the country, however there's a risk of spot flooding today as heavy rain continues to fall.
