The German drug company that made Thalidomide to relieve morning sickness but caused malformation of limbs and shortened growth in thousands of babies have said sorry for the first time.

Grunenthal made its first apology since the drug first hit the market in the late 50s and early 60s saying it was very sorry for its silence.

Carmel Daly McDonnell from Athy Co Kildare and secretary of the Irish Thalidomide Survivors Society talked to Henry McKean about the effect it had on her and her family and her anger with the makers of Thalidomide for not saying sorry for 50 years.
