The Banshees of Inisherin won three awards at last night’s Golden Globes.
The tragicomedy about a remote island off the West of Ireland won Best Picture, Best Actor for Colin Farrell and Best Screenplay for writer and director Martin McDonagh.
The film had been nominated for eight awards.
In a speech accepting the award for Best Actor, Mr Farrell said he had been surprised by the film’s success.
"I never expect my films to find an audience, and when they do it's shocking for me," Mr Farrell said.
He also thanked the director who had made it all possible.
"Martin McDonagh, I owe you so much. You changed the trajectory of my life forever in ways that I, begrudgingly, will be grateful to you for the rest of my days.”

The pair had previously worked together on and won Golden Globes for the hit In Bruges and Mr McDonagh joked that they would "try not to leave it another 14 years" before working on a project together.
The Banshees of Inisherin has grossed $24.7 million worldwide and has recieved nine Oscar nominations.
