British pop star Rita Ora’s appearance on the BBC resulted in more than 400 complaints that her wardrobe choice was inappropriate and too revealing.
The singer, who is currently judging contestants on the channel’s The Voice music competition, wore a white suit with a plunging neckline on the The One Show, which is broadcast weeknights at 19.00.
The Ermanno Scervino blazer seemingly resulted in many blushes, with the channel’s Points of View message board inundated with claims of impropriety.
“I am no prude but found it totally inappropriate,” one viewer said, while another suggested that the British national broadcaster implement a dress code to eleviate the risk of “boobs hanging out.”
Reactions on Twitter were also outraged:

A BBC spokesperson said that The One Show “allows guests to choose their own attire and pop stars often opt for something glamorous or striking”.
“We didn’t feel that Rita’s outfit would be outside of most viewers’ expectations of that of a major pop star, but we appreciate that tastes vary.”
