Ireland is set to have a mild Christmas this year, and while many will be happy to avoid the cold weather, this list is perfect for anyone looking for a white Christmas.

As per usual, the Nordic countries are your safest bet.

Hovden in Norway is expected to get up to 163cm of snow over the seven days.

The year-round resort is located in the upper Setesdal region and is the largest ski destination in the Southern part of Norway.

Meanwhile, Riksgränsen and Hemavan, two of the most well-known ski resorts in Sweden, are expected to get over 20cm of snow in the next 48 hours

Hemsedal in Norway, which boasts the highest Alpine point in Scandinavia, can expect 1cm of snow on Christmas Day.

The same can be said for the town of Geilo, which offers exciting activities like dog sledding, ice karting, snowmobiling, fatbike rentals, and winter riding.

Borovets ski resort in Bulgaria can expect 20cm over the next two days.

If you’re not much of a sport person, other options include Tallinn, the capitol of Estonia, which averages 20 days of snow a month during the festive period.

The city’s old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Europe.

Meanwhile, Lithuania’s capital Vilnius usually receives around 18 days of snow a month and is renowned for its baroque architecture.

The city is also connected to the Dublin Portal if you wanted to give a wave to friends and family at home.

For a smaller city break, Erfurt in Germany is perfect, with an average of 17 days of snow a month and a population of just over 200 thousand.
