Au pair who was paid €2.50 an hour awarded almost €10,000 against Irish family
A Spanish au pair has been awarded almost €10,000 after winning a landmark case against an Irish family.
The woman was paid between €2.50 and €5 an hour, plus board, for between 30 and 60 hours a week.
She took a case to the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC), which ruled the family breached several employment laws.

A heavy and armed garda presence surrounded the Church of the Holy Trinity this morning.
The coffin of Mr Ryan, described by his family as a staunch republican, arrived draped in a Tricolour.

Man killed in Laois road accident named as local councillor for Tipperary
Friends and colleagues of Tipperary Councillor Willie Kennedy say they are shocked and devastated by his sudden death in a road accident.
Councillor Kennedy, from Glastrigan in Borrisoleigh, died after he was knocked down by a car in Portlaoise around 8.30pm last night.
He was hit on the N80 Carlow Portlaoise road at Dysart.
He was treated at the scene and rushed by paramedics to Portlaoise General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A TV sports presenter who was secretly recorded by a stalker while nude in a hotel room has been awarded US$55m (€49.9m) by a jury.
Erin Andrews, a Fox Sports reporter who also co-hosts 'Dancing With The Stars', had told the trial that she was left humiliated and depressed when the video was uploaded online, where it continues to be viewed by millions of people.
