White House on lockdown after shooting in Capitol building
Gunshots have been heard at the US Capitol Visitors Centre, according to US Senate sources. Workers in the Capitol were told to "shelter in place" and those outside were urged to take cover. Some reports suggested that the gunman had been captured and one police officer had been wounded. There were also reports that an individual had tried to gain entry into the White House, though it was unclear whether this was the same suspect.
Man charged with Brussels bombing released due to "lack of evidence"
The only suspect charged with murder over last week's Brussels attacks has been released due to a lack of evidence, Belgian prosecutors say. Faycal Cheffou, an independent journalist, was widely reported to be the third individual in CCTV footage of suspects at Brussels airport. But a prosecutor's statement read: "The indications that led to the arrest of Faycal C were not substantiated by the ongoing inquiry. As a result, the subject has been released by the examining magistrate."

A video of Brian O’Sullivan singing a tribute to his late friend Ger "Farmer" Foley has been making waves online after it was picked up by websites around the world. Foley, who hailed from Killorglin, was honoured in his local pub in Kerry with a rendition of the Killers' track 'Mr. Brightside' which has gone viral, garnering over 620,000 views in the three days since it was uploaded.
