Two counts are dropped against woman in assisted suicide trial

The defence in the assisted suicide trial of Dublin woman Gail O'Rorke says the jury is being asked to criminalise the making of travel arrangements.

Earlier the judge directed the jury to strike out two of the charges against her.

However Ms O'Rorke (43) of Kilclare Gardens, Tallaght remains accused of attempting to help her friend Bernadette Forde take her own life, by making travel arrangements to Dignitas in Switzerland between March and April 2011.

Alan Dukes says Siteserv inquiry will find no wrongdoing

The former chairman of IBRC, Alan Dukes, says he's fully confident that an inquiry into the sale of Siteserv will find no evidence of any wrongdoing.

He says he's satisfied that the bid by Denis O'Brien's Millington firm was the one with the best result for the bank, and therefore the taxpayer.

Man further remanded in custody over the murder of Karen Buckley

A 21-year-old man has been further remanded in custody, charged with the murder of Karen Buckley in Glasgow.

Alexander Pacteau of Dorchester Avenue appeared in court again today and made no plea or declaration over the murder charge and with attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
