Over 20,000 people are due to take part in the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon in Dublin, showing how good the Irish people are, according to Jess Kelly.
The race begins at 12.30pm at Fitzwilliam Street Upper and will conclude at Pembroke Road.
More than 20,000 women are expected to run, jog and walk the 10km course, including Newstalk Tech Correspondent Jess Kelly.
She told The Anton Savage Show she is raising money for the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre (DRCC), which you can still donate to now.
“It was actually a bit emotional - there's so many other causes that people are doing it for and they're doing it because charities have helped them or their families or their loved ones,” she said.
“It kind of made my heart happy to realise that we're such good people – not just me, humility is my middle name.
“The Irish people are such good people going out and doing something on a Sunday of a bank holiday weekend to raise money for organisations and charities that need it.”
Jess said the buildup to the Women’s Mini Marathon has been “electric”.
“I took the Luas into town and normally I have my headphones and I'm in my own world,” she said.
“I took them out and the atmosphere on the Luas of women coming into town to get ready for this was actually a bit emotional.
“They're all talking about the causes, the training, the camaraderie.”
She explained Dublin Rape Crisis Centre needs €77,000 every week in terms of fundraising to keep doing what they do.
Motorists are advised that there will be several road closures in and around the course, which you can find here.
Temperatures are expected to hit 21 degrees in places with widespread sunshine and a medium to high UV index.
