Situation in Yarmouk is 'beyond inhumane'
The situation in a Palestinian refugee district of Damascus seized by Islamic State has been described as "beyond inhumane" by civil rights activists.
Yarmouk has seen increased shelling and sporadic street fighting after the militant group stormed the southern area of the city on Wednesday, marking the group's deepest foray into the capital.
The trade union SIPTU claims some home help workers have become "enslaved in zero hour contracts".
The organisation says it believes one quarter of the over three thousand employees in the sector are affected by the issue.
It's calling on the government to tackle the issue in voluntary organisations which are government funded.
Two men, including a security guard, have been taken to hospital for treatment for stab wounds following an incident in Milltown, Dublin yesterday evening.
Gardaí have arrested two men as part of the investigation.
