The Spice Girls, Adele, Muse and George Michael are among the superstars who will entertain crowds tonight .

While the identity of performers was a closely guarded secret until now, we can now reveal the identity of tonight’s performers.

The show will celebrate 50 years of British pop music and will feature a host of star names from Paul McCartney and The Who to Kate Bush and Liam Gallagher who is set to sing “Wonderwall”.

The show which kicks off at 9pm will feature 4,100 performers, 3,500 adult volunteers and 380 schoolchildren.

Katie Taylor and co will also take centre stage when the athletes march into the Olympic arena. Unlike the Opening Ceremony, they will march together and not by nationality. Hopefully Taylor won’t be confused for British this time!

The show will also see the Olympic flame extinguished and the handover ceremony to 2016 hosts Rio de Janeiro.

Tonights highlights include:

The Spice Girls will be singing on top of five black cabs in replica gear from their 90s heyday.

Former Kinks man Ray Davies will sing London’s unofficial anthem “Waterloo Sunset”

Annie Lennox will arrive on stage in a ghostly ship

Comedian Russell Brand will cover The Sex Pistols’ “Pretty Vacant”

Eric Idle will sing Monty Python’s “Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life”.

Only Fools And Horses Derek and Rodney Trotter and their iconic three wheel van will be popping in.

George Michael will perform for the first time since his near-fatal bout of pneumonia.

Ed Sheeran will duet with Pink Floyd on a version of “Wish You Were Here”.

Supermodels Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley will take to the catwalk to show off Britain’s creative genius.
