The question that has been on a lot of people’s minds over the weekend is who was the stunt double that got to imitate Queen Elizabeth II during the London 2012 Olympic games opening ceremony.
We can reveal that it is none other than professional stunt man Gary Connery. Gary and Bond stunt double 41 year old Mark Sutton took part in months of secret training for their jump.
The comical sketch filmed in April of James Bond, played by the current Bond Daniel Craig began with Bond entering Buckingham Palace in a typical London black taxi.
James walks into the palace followed by her Majesty’s well known favourite dogs – her corgis. After a butler greets Bond to Queen Elizabeth they proceed to walk through the palace out the back to a helicopter skinned in the Union Jack colours.
They fly all over London past the London Eye, Big Ben,and Tower Bridge down the River Thames until they reach their destination – the London 2012 Olympic Village in Stratford, East London.
And the rest is history as you will see in the video below.
