The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island have been evacuated after a bomb threat.
The iconic attractions were cleared after a 911 caller threatened to blow up the statue, the National Park Service said in a statement.
United States Park Police swept the statue with two canine units and a dog picked up a scent in the visitors' locker area.
NYPD's bomb squad is also at the scene.
"We will provide further updates as appropriate," said the statement.
Photos posted on Twitter by visitors showed hundreds of people being herded toward a ferry landing.
"Waiting to be evacuated off #libertyisland. Interesting," Twitter user Rick Borgmeyer wrote.
Another photo showed the ferry landing void of visitors and security personnel standing nearby.
Members of the NYPD harbor team and the National Park Service were sweeping the attractions.
Park officials have not immediately responded to a request for comment.
Some four million people visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island each year, according to New York Harbor Parks' website.
