A fourth person has been charged as part of a major corruption investigation into a 'particular Garda unit' based in Dublin.

Four Gardaí from the unit have been suspended while the Garda Anti-Corruption Unit carries out its investigation.

Two Gardaí and a civilian have already appeared in court as part of the investigation.

This morning, a third Garda was charged.

The officer will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice later today.

Gardaí said the duties of the unit under investigation are being carried out by other members of An Garda Síochána.
