Pebble launched a Kickstarter campaign yesterday for its new Pebble Time smartwatch with an initial target of $500,000 (€441,000) - that goal was reached in 17 minutes.
It hit $1m after 49 minutes - the previous record for passing that milestone was 162 minutes. The current tally stands at over $8.4m (€7.4m).
A pledge of $159 (€140) will get you the watch at 25 percent less than it's regular price.
The project has more than 39,000 backers - and the company will be raising money for 30 more days.
It is already the fifth most successful campaign on Kickstarter. A Pebble smartwatch from 2012 is the second most funded project on the site, it raised over $10.2m.
This is the company's first watch with a colour display. It was also has a microphone to allow people to record notes and to respond to messages.
The new watch is compatible with the 6,500 existing Pebble apps and watch-faces - it also works with both Android and Apple's OS.
The watch has a "colour e-paper display" - this is technology uses less energy than a LED display - this allows the smartwatch to have a seven-day battery life.
It is also water resistant - and costs less than half the price of the most basic Apple Watch.
The company plans to start shipping watches in May.
