UKRAINE

Nearly 97 per cent of people in Crimea have voted to break away from Ukraine and join Russia.

the latest figures suggest 96.6 per cent of voters supported joining the Russian Federation and the region's government will now make a formal application.

but EU foreign ministers will meet today to consider sanctions against Moscow.
