The State funeral of Thomas Kent has taken place in Co Cork.
President Michael D Higgins and Taoiseach Enda Kenny were among the dignitaries attending the mass in Castlelyons.
It marks the reinterment of one of only two men to be executed by British forces after the 1916 Rising.
He was one of the leaders of the Rising, and was executed by firing squad in Cork on May 9th 1916.
His remains were exhumed from Cork Prison in June this year, and formally identified after DNA testing.
16 men were executed following the Easter Rising, with only two executed outside Dublin.
Thomas Kent was killed in Cork, and Roger Casement in London.
Giving his homily the Bishop of Cloyne, William Crean, admitted that the event was "unusual".
Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams earlier told PJ Coogan on the 96FM Opinion Line that Thomas Kent was involved in the struggle for Irish freedom, long before the Easter Rising.
