Tens of thousands took to the streets of Tehran last night to celebrate the election of new president Hassan Rowhani.

Large crowds, chanting pro-reform slogans and demanding more freedom, stood on the main streets and squares, as police looked on.
Many people were dressed in purple - Rowhani's campaign colour.
More than 70 percent of Iran's 50 million eligible voters went to the polls to elect a successor to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, under whose presidency Iran's economy struggled targeted by harsh international sanctions.
