Thousands of people are expected to attend the Bloom festival in Phoenix Park today.

Highlights include a children's entertainment area, a food village and of course, the show gardens.

The gardens are all designed around themes and include one which celebrates breast cancer survivors.

Cancer survivor Yvonne Joye was at the Marie Keating Foundation Garden, and reminded anyone who is diagnosed that "you do flower again, you do emerge again, you do reclaim your femininity":

The annual Bloom event is organised by Bord Bia, and is open between 9am to 6pm.

Organisers say they are hoping to welcome 100,000 visitors at this year's festival, which got underway on Thursday. It runs through Monday.
