The Irish Cancer Society is calling on members of the public to get behind Daffodil Day today. Over 4,000 volunteers are selling Daffodils right across the country and the charity says it's hoping to raise €3.4 million.
More people are availing of the Society's services than ever before as more people in Ireland are diagnosed with cancer each year. 30,000 people are diagnosed with the disease each year.
One of the services Daffodil Day funds is the Night Nursing service - the aim of which is to provide extra support for people who are seriously ill with cancer and wish to remain at home being cared for by their family.
The ICS says funds raised on Daffodil Day will go directly to providing information, care and support to those with, and affected by, cancer in Ireland.
The Society is calling on people in every county to help support the campaign by making a donation to the Society.
