Three people have been arrested by Gardai investigating the murder of a Lithuanian man earlier this week. The body of the man was found on a beach in Co. Meath on Tuesday. He had been stabbed several times.
At around 9:30am on Tuesday morning people out walking on Mornington Beach discovered the body of Andrius Butkus.
The 44-year-old was originally from Lithuania. He had been living in Ireland for a number of years.
A post mortem revealed he had also sustained serious head injuries.
Gardai launched a murder inquiry and last night a woman aged in her 30s was arrested in the Drogheda area.
This morning a second woman aged in her 60s and a man in his 50s were detained also in Drogheda.
All three are being questioned at Drogheda Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
