Three people are due in court facing charges ranging from murder to child cruelty following the death of a toddler in Tyrone over the weekend.
23-month-old Tavia Michella Ximenes Da Costa was found dead by police after they were called to the Windmill Court area of the town on Sunday morning.
“Sadly, Tavia, who was just weeks away from her second birthday, was pronounced dead at the scene,” said PSNI Detective Chief Inspector Anthony Kelly.
“My thoughts, and sincere sympathy, are with little Tavia’s family members and loved ones whose worlds have been turned upside down.”
Investigators yesterday launched a murder investigation after a postmortem examination was carried out.
They confirmed that a man and two women had been arrested on suspicion of murder.
In the early hours of this morning, a 29-year-old man was charged with murder and cruelty to children.
A 21-year-old woman was charged with manslaughter, causing or allowing the death of a child or vulnerable person and cruelty to children.
A 24-year-old woman was charged with causing or allowing the death of a child or vulnerable person and cruelty to children.
All three are due before Strabane Magistrates Court this morning.
