Donal Ryan, Colm Tóibín and Colum McCann have made the longlist for the Man Booker Prize.

The three Irish authors made the list with their novels 'The Spinning Heart', 'The Testament of Mary' and 'TransAtlantic' respectively.

They join 10 others on a longlist chosen from 151 nominees.

The literary prize is awarded annually to the author of the best original full length novel and includes a cash prize of stg£50,000 (€58,215).

Previous Irish winners include Roddy Doyle, John Banville and Anne Enright.

The winner will be announced this October following the release of the shortlist.
