Three men have appeared before a special sitting of the Special Criminal Court charged in connection with the murder of Peter Butterly.

The 35-year-old, who had links to dissident republicans, was shot dead outside the Huntsman Inn pub in Gormanstown, Co. Meath on Wednesday.

David Cullen, of Brackenwood Avenue, Balbriggan, Dublin was charged with the unlawful possession of a firearm under suspicious circumstances.

Dean Evans, of Grange Park Rise, Raheny, Dublin was charged with IRA membership, possession of a firearm and ammunition with intent to endanger life.

Edward McGrath from Land Dale Lawns, Springfield in Tallaght, Dublin faces the same charges as Mr Evans.

All three men have been remanded in custody to appear before the Special Criminal Court again next Thursday (March 14th).
