Three more people have died in Australia's wildfires - taking the number of lives lost since Christmas to nine.
Some parts of New South Wales and Victoria are cut off - with military aircraft and ships being drafted in to try to reach them.
Several people are still missing in the two states while many people have spent New Year in evacuation centres there.
New South Wales fire chief Shane Fitzsimmons is hoping they can help.
"We've got reports of injuries and burn injuries to members of the public," he said. "We haven't been able to get access via roads or via aircraft. It's been too dangerous, we simply cannot access not can the people in these areas get out."
