Three people have died following a road crash in Northern Ireland on St Stephen's Day.

It happened in Cookstown, Co Tyrone shortly after 3.30pm on Monday.

Police and emergency services attended the scene of a two-vehicle collision in the Dungannon Road area.

The two drivers, a woman aged in her 80s and a man in his 20s, died in the crash.

A woman aged in her 50s, who was a passenger in one of the vehicles, was also pronounced dead.

Four children and a woman in her 20s have been taken to hospital for treatment.

The PSNI has said an investigation is underway.

They are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or has any more information, to come forward.
