Three teenage boys have been charged over a serious assault on a 14-year-old boy in Sligo on Halloween night.

They will appear before Sligo District Court later this morning.

The assault happened at roughly 7.10pm at the Apple Green Service Station on Mailcoach Road.

The teen was taken to Sligo University Hospital and has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where he is being treated for serious injuries.

The teenage boys were arrested yesterday, one in the morning and two in the evening, under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
