Bose workers to meet minister
SIPTU representatives are this morning meeting with the Minister for Jobs and Enterprise, to discuss the closure of the Bose plant in Co. Monaghan.
Yesterday an agreement was reached with management to delay the closure of the factory by two months until June this year.
The closure is being postponed while talks continue on redundancy terms and other issues.
It was announced last month that operations at the Carrickmacross plant would be shut down with the loss of around 140 jobs.
Fatal foetal abnormality amendment to be proposed
Cross party-TDs are being urged to support an amendment to the law to permit terminations where there’s a fatal foetal abnormality.
Independent TD Clare Daly is proposing the amendment on Friday, and TDs will vote on the matter next Tuesday.
The amendment would call for two doctors to jointly certify that there is a fatal foetal abnormality.
Sinn Féin to launch 1916 commemoration pans
Sinn Féin is to launch their 1916 commemoration plan on Friday, giving an alternative schedule of events from those planned as part of the official ceremonies.
