With Ireland facing extreme weather throughout the night the early morning will be heavily affected by the tail end of the storm and any damage it has done overnight.

Met Eireann have extended the red weather alert for several counties to 2pm tomorrow, from the original time of noon.

Graham faces cross examination in Bailey case

Ex British soldier Martin Graham is expected to be cross examined in Ian Bailey's action for damages against the state over the investigation into the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier.

Mr Graham has alleged gardai supplied him with clothes, cannabis and cash to befriend Bailey in the hope of obtaining information with him, and then beat him up and threatened to kill him when they suspected he may have evidence that could expose corruption in the investigation.

The 87th Academy Awards nominations will be announced

The makers of Irish short film CODA, co-funded by the Irish FIlm Board, are waiting to hear if they've been nominated for an Oscar.

The 9 minute animation is on the shortlist for in the Best Animated Short Film category, along with ten other films.

The hand-drawn animation features the voices of Brian Gleeson and Orla Fitzgerald.

The nominations for this year's Oscars are being announced at half past one this afternoon Irish time.
