Missing Air Asia plane
The search continues for the missing Air Asia plane in the Java Sea.
Today it was reported that air traffic control refused permission for the jet, which had 162 people on board, to change course to avoid a storm.
It has also emerged that the EU banned all Indonesian airlines in 2007 amid fears over the ability of its government to monitor safety standards.
Ebola case in Scotland
A healthcare worker is being treated for the Ebola virus in Hospital in Scotland. She travelled from Sierra Leone, and people on board that flight are being contacted as a pre-cautionary measure.
The case is the first diagnosis of Ebola in Scotland.
New Year’s in Dublin begins
A three-day New Year's Festival gets underway in the capital on Tuesday.
NYF Dublin will be launched by Tourism Minister Paschal Donohue with a Luminosity light spectacle using the city's architecture as a backdrop.
The organisers promise a host of family friendly and free events - along with some big name ticketed events - including a sold out countdown concert on Christmas Eve with Kodaline as the main act.
