Today

Scattered showers will become more frequent in the west early this morning. Cloud will thicken everywhere as those showers merge to persistent rain, and extend eastwards to all areas through the rest of the morning.

Temperatures will reach 10 or 11 degrees today and southwest winds will be fresh to strong and from the southwest.

Southwest winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 60 km/h gusting 90 to 110 km/h overnight on Thursday night and in to Friday morning.

Tonight

It will become increasingly windy through the evening and early night with near gale force winds over land, and damaging gusts and storm force winds along the north coast later in the night.

There will be further scattered outbreaks of rain, turning persistent and heavy again in the west Friday morning.

Overnight temperatures dipping to 6 or 7 degrees in the north but typically staying at 9 to 11 degrees elsewhere.
