Eight tickets for Garth Brooks series of concerts here have been sold in Afghanistan. The country and western singer is set to play five nights at Croke Park in Dublin this July.
However a row between local residents and Croke Park officials over the staging of eight concerts there this summer is set to roll on.
A meeting between promoters, the GAA and the local community last night, highlighted the anger at the Garth Brooks and 'One Direction' gigs.
Locals say they have not been consulted about the shows and that only three have been agreed.
Dublin north inner-city Councillor Neil Ring says residents are willing to take action against the gigs.
"For the five Garth Brooks concerts they have to apply to Dublin City Council for an events licence" he said.
"Myself and my fellow councilors in the central area which surrounds Croke Park voted unanimously on Tuesday that we would object to the licence, unless the residents and business interests and all stakeholders were happy with what the GAA were proposing to do on those nights" he added.
Speaking in Cork, Peter Aiken confirmed talks took place between the two sides last night, but he was remaining "tight lipped" about the outcome.
But he says he was surprised that the tickets sold all over the world.
