A house in East Cork has been searched after Gardaí arrested a man on suspicion of the murder of Tina Satchwell.
The man in his 50s was arrested yesterday afternoon and a property in Youghal was sealed off.
Ms Satchwell was 45-years-old when she was reported missing from her home in Youghal by her husband Richard on March 24th 2017.
An extensive search was carried out in the wake of the disappearance, including an almost two-week-long search of Mitchel’s Wood outside Castlemartyr in March 2018; however, no trace of the Fermoy native has ever been discovered.
In an update yesterday evening, Garda Press said the missing person investigation has been upgraded to murder and is being led from Midleton Garda Station.
The arrested man is being held at Cobh Garda Station and a family liaison officer has been appointed to Tina’s family.
The house in Youghal town has been sealed off and a full search of the home and garden will take place.
