Gardaí are appealing for hunters to come forward after a man was shot during a football match in Tipperary over the weekend.
The man was shot in the arm while playing a league match in the Rearcross area of the county shortly after 9pm on Saturday.
The match between Rearcross FC and Ballymackey FC was later abandoned.
The man was treated at the scene by emergency services before being taken by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick.
He has since been released.
Gardaí believe the man may have been struck by a stray bullet shot by someone hunting in the area and they are now urging anyone who was hunting in the area at the time to contact them.
In a statement, Rearcross FC said it was “totally shocked” by the incident.
It said the man was “well” and had been discharged from hospital.
