Today
Windy in parts early on this morning, with heavy overnight rain clearing eastern and northern counties. Becoming mostly dry for a time with some good sunny spells, however heavy showers will feed into west and southwest counties, gradually extending to other areas this afternoon. Some of the showers will be heavy, merging to longer spells of rain locally. Southerly winds will strengthen and it will become windy for a time again, especially near south coasts. Cool, with highest afternoon temperatures of between 6 and 9 degrees Celsius, coldest in the north. Becoming drier for a time in the evening with clear spells and winds easing, but further showers feeding into Atlantic counties again then too.
Tonight
Most of the country will stay dry tonight, and under clear skies some frost will set in (especially in more sheltered areas). Just well scattered showers to begin - mainly occurring across west and southwest counties. Later in the night more general rain will arrive into southern and western counties, with strengthening southwest winds too. Lowest temperatures 1 to 3 degrees Celsius.
