Toddler critical after 2-car crash in Roscommon

A toddler remains in a critical condition in hospital this morning following a two car collision in Co. Roscommon.

The crash happened shortly before 9 O'clock yesterday morning.

The boy (2) is fighting for his life this morning following the crash at Currinah, Ballaghderreen, at a point where the road is under construction as part of a new bypass project.

He was initially air-lifted to University College Hospital Galway, but he was found to be suffering from serious head injuries and was later transferred to Temple St. Children's Hospital in Dublin.

The toddler was one of three children in the car, which was being driven by their Mother when it collided with a taxi.

The woman and the taxi driver were also injured in the crash, as were two other children who were all brought to Mayo General Hospital suffering with minor injuries.

Gardaí are anxious to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the crash.
