An 18-month-old boy killed in a road incident in County Clare on Wednesday has been named locally.
Hunter Molloy died in the incident outside his home on the Quinn Road in Ennis shortly before 12:30pm.
He was taken to University Hospital Limerick where he was pronounced dead.
Local parish priest in Ennis Fr Tom Ryan christened Hunter and also married his parents.
He told Newstalk Breakfast the family has been changed forever.
"It is a family that I would know pretty well and it is a sad day for the family and for the community that they are part of," he said.
"Death like this is unexpected and especially because it's a little child.
"Yesterday was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, and all in one instant life changed forever for that family."
'That pain of loss'
Fr Ryan said led an open-air prayer service in the community on Wednesday night.
"It's not just the immediate family that's affected by the grief; the neighbours, the friends - they're all a part of the community," he said.
"They feel that pain of loss as well as the individual family.
"Last night I just spent time with them, listened to them and they shared their grief and shared their stories.
"Then we gathered together in the open air, it was a beautiful evening, and we just spent time praying".
Fr Ryan said they asked for "the strength to be able to cope in the days, hours and weeks that lie ahead".
Hunter had two sisters and his mother is expecting another child, which Fr Ryan described as "a total turmoil of emotion for any parent to go through".
A family liaison officer is being appointed to support the family.
