The number of net jobs created in IDA companies last year was the highest in a decade.

In its annual report the agency which is responsible for attracting foreign direct investment said net job creation rose to a ten year high of 6,500.

Over 40 percent of the new investments announced last year were from companies coming to Ireland for the first time and the biggest investments were made by US companies Apple, PayPal, Northern Trust, and EA Games

Bus Eireann drivers say they will strike on Sunday if CIE goes ahead with proposed changes to pay and conditions.

Drivers voted in favour of strike action by a margin of 90 per cent.

CIE needs to make savings in the region of €9 million but talks with unions on cost-saving measures broke down in December.
