The 61 year old from Lambay Court, Malahide, Dublin was practicing as a solicitor in Fairview at the time of the deception on January 22nd 2009.

Hundreds of complaints against the former Minister Michael Lowry are to be investigated by the Standards in Public Office Commission. 

The Committee on members Interests of the Dáil say they've looked at the complaints about the Independent TD and non disclosure of land interests in the UK.

Trade unions are warning it will be extremely difficult to save a further €1billion from the public sector pay bill.

Government officials have outlined plans to union representatives aimed at extending the Croke Park Agreement until 2015.

Preliminary discussions took place in Dublin today but full negotiations are not due to get underway before the Budget.

A former athletics coach has been extradited from Spain on a charge of indecently assaulting a teenage boy in South Dublin in the late 1980s.

Dublin District Court heard Colin Goggin of no fixed abode in Ireland was arrested at Dublin airport this lunchtime.

The 49 year old from Dublin has been living in Spain for the past 5 years.

Sgt Colm O'Giollain gave evidence the 49 year old replied 'no' when the charge was put to him.

There was no application for bail and Judge Patricia McNamara has remanded him in custody for a week.

The Psychiatric Nurses Association says the Government's lack of spending on Mental Health is a national scandal.

The PNA says 35 million euro was promised for mental health services for this year alone but it has not been forthcoming.

The Association says there's been an increase in the number of people dying by suicide since the start of the recession.

Des Kavanagh, General Secretary of the PNA, says that just today he heard of further cuts in Sligo.
