The Government is to introduce legislation and regulation to allow for abortion in certain cases when a woman's life is at risk - including the threat of suicide.

Legislation in line with the Supreme Court X case will be drafted over the coming months by Health Minister James Reilly.

In a Government Statement, Minister Reilly says they will provide clarity for the medical profession about what is permissible - doctors will still have to take full account of the equal right to life of the unborn child.

Over 6,000 training places created for the unemployed

6,500 new training places have been made available to people on the dole.

Momentum will help job seekers learn skills in areas where there are job opportunities like digital media, sales and ICT.

It not only targets the long term unemployed but those under 25 who are signing on.

Reaction to new Instagram copyright terms

There's been a furious reaction online to the photo-sharing site Instagram, which says it can now sell uploaded pictures.

It's changed its terms, allowing it to pass on people's photos to advertisers to use in their marketing.

The change will come into effect next month and the only way to avoid your photos being used without your permission is to delete your Instagram account before January

Kurt Opsahl, a senior staff attorney at the Electronic Frontier Foundation said: "It's asking people to agree to unspecified future commercial use of their photos. That makes it challenging for someone to give informed consent to that deal."

Woman and her pet Jack Russell rescued from Wexford Harbour

A 29-year-old woman got into difficulty when trying to rescue her dog, Holly, from Courtown Harbour, Co. Wexford.

The woman was unable to climb back out onto land because of the cold water.
A member of the public raised the alarm and the RNLI volunteer lifeboat crew from Courtown arrived quickly to the scene.
They managed to get the woman and her dog to safety.
