Katie Taylor has won an Olympic GOLD medal in the lightweight boxing final of London 2012.
It was a close fought contest at London’s ExCel Arena – the first round was tied at two points each, Russia’s Sofya Och-i-gava took the second 2 points to 1.
But the Bray native fought back to take the third round by 7 points to 5 -
Then ca the deciding fourth round which went 3 – 3 meaning Katie wins an historic gold medal by 10 points to 8.
She’s now done a lap of honour of the ring draped in the tricolour.
