Putting a CV together can be stressful, whether it's to put in for a new job or to ask for a promotion.
Seanie Clifford, AKA the CV doctor, joined Lunchtime Live to give his top tips for how to put your best foot forward when looking for a new role.
“The first thing is not to lie or exaggerate,” he said.
“You can use the cover letter if you’ve had a career break; if you’re changing career, you can always use the cover letter to kind of explain yourself.
“The second thing with CVs is to keep it simple – if you look on YouTube or you use Canva, everything is overcomplicated these days.
“So, I’d start with an introduction, it’s sort of a short summary where I would summarise what I bring to the table for that particular role.”
Mr Clifford recommended keeping this introduction to four or five lines, and tailoring it to the specific job being applied to.
